Dead Can Dance are Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard, their music cannot be categorized into any genre, they mix dark ethereal atmospheric goth, neo-classical, Middle Eastern, African, Gregorian, Gaelic folk to create music that is entrancing, ancient, ritualistic and hypnotic that seems to come from an old burial ground. They’ve formed in Australia in the early 80’s and then moved to London and released such classics as “Dead Can Dance” “Into The Labyrinth” and their newest “Anastasis.”

Legendary and influential doom metal god Wino is joined by German blues garage rock player Conny Ochs and together they have released “Heavy Kingdom.” An album of acoustic rock, blues and a little folk, it’s melodic, lush and gorgeous but heavy, dark layered like any metal record he’s ever released.

Jach Grisham is a political activist, author, punk rocker and hypnotherapist from L.A. that started one of the best punk bands from the early 80’s T.S.O.L.. He and his band of snot nose punks released a couple of masterpieces “Dance With Me” and “Beneath The Shadows,” and as an author he released the interesting story of his life “An American Demon: A Memoir.” So for an interesting night of punk rock and political views joined him but do not look into his eyes as he can hynotize you.

Abigail Williams are a black metal band from Arizona that formed in the early 00’s, they have called it quits and this will be their last tour so show some support. Their style is atmospheric and symphonic at times, harsh and bleak like the vast desert where they come from, they’ve released three good albums “Becoming” “In The Absence Of Light” and “In The Shadow Of A Thousand Suns” pure fucking USBM!

Nachtmystium is a psychedelic experimental black metal band from Illinois that formed in the late 90’s. They mix harsh, depressing USBM with psychedelic rock and industrial to create a hallucinatory trance full of misery and demons, a drone distorted existence. There albums are full of furious blast-beats, ethereal distortion, demonic anguished screams & shrieks, fuzz-tone riffs and pure bleak ambient black metal psychedelia, albums like “Addicts: Black Meddle Pt. II” “Instinct:Decay” “Assassins: Black Meddle Pt. I” and their newest masterpiece “Silencing Machine.”

Also playing: Murmur – black metal from Chicago, Krieg – black metal from New Jersey and Centimani – death metal from The Rockies.

Wretched are a technical death metal band from North Carolina that formed in the mid 00’s, they’ve released three albums (the first one doesn’t deserve to be mention) “Son Of Perdition” and “Beyond The Gate.”

Also playing” Huntress – heavy metal from California, their music is ok but the lead singer has a rack worth checking out and Vale Of Pnath – local tech-death band.

AGALLOCH @ THE BLUEBIRD THEATER 7/17/12 DENVER-CO

Agalloch is an atmospheric dark metal band from Portland that formed in the mid 90’s, their music is calming, beautiful, cold and saddening full of dread, misery and sorrow. They’ve released several ep’s and albums like the masterpiece “Marrow Of The Spirit” an album full of beautiful guitar melodies, harsh black metal vocals, melancholy and isolation, “Pale Folklore” “Ashes Against The Grain” “The Grey” and “Faustian Echoes.”
